About DeskPurrch
DeskPurrch is a desk-attachable cat bed created for cat lovers who want their pets close while they work without constant keyboard interruptions. Founded by Yifan (a solo creator and operator), DeskPurrch was inspired by a simple work-from-home challenge: cats love joining meetings, but they don’t always respect keyboards.
What began as an early hammock-style concept evolved through multiple prototypes into the DeskPurrch product backers supported on Kickstarter.
Their Challenge
For Yifan, launching on Kickstarter meant scaling quickly while still running the business alone.
The biggest early challenge wasn’t the product itself, it was complexity in fulfillment. DeskPurrch had “too many color option combinations,” which created a real risk of packing errors, especially when trying to ship at Kickstarter speed.

To make fulfillment possible, DeskPurrch used a hybrid approach: the most complex orders were pre-packed at the factory in China and labeled clearly before being sent to the U.S. warehouse. Later, they toward sending components and having the warehouse pack each order based on SOPs, giving more flexibility, but also adding coordination overhead.
How Easyship Helped
DeskPurrch chose Easyship after comparing multiple providers and Easyship stood out early.

Because ~75% of backers were based in the U.S. and Canada, Yifan fulfilled those orders through Easyship and 3PL partner, Sincro LAX. For the remaining international backers, he compared costs and chose to ship some orders directly from the factory in China when it was more economical.
During the Kickstarter push, DeskPurrch needed to ship around 500 orders in a tight window, something Yifan knew would have been extremely difficult without shipping infrastructure and support.
“We had probably around 500 shipments we needed to ship within one to two weeks… without Easyship’s help, I couldn’t do this myself.”
As DeskPurrch transitioned into eCommerce, Easyship helped reduce friction again, this time through Shopify integration and automation. Yifan expected a complex setup, but found it surprisingly simple.
“I was too scared to do it by myself in the beginning… but then… it was just one minute… install the app and they already have my data.”
On a day-to-day basis, DeskPurrch relies on Easyship’s UI, tracking, and analytics; especially to monitor costs and plan packaging improvements.
To stay efficient as a one-person team, Yifan also set up automation rules so he wouldn’t need to manually select a courier for every shipment.
